A 92-year-old woman in Bexhill, UK may rethink her pastime of feeding the birds after one of them stole her dentures.
The woman, a care home resident, was outside enjoying a cup of coffee, her dentures sitting on a table beside her when a seagull swooped down and flew off with her dentures.
The woman ran in a panic to find her carers, who rushed to her aid. The woman was afraid the bird would fly off with, drop, or damage her dentures. Fortunately for her, though, the bird took her dentures to the roof of a nearby building, where it dropped them after it determined they were not edible.
The woman’s carers got a ladder, climbed to the top of the building, and retrieved her dentures, unharmed.
The home’s supervisor said, “All of us . . . have since seen the funny side, but I think she’s going to be a bit more circumspect in future as to which birds she favours with tit-bits from her table.”
An Important Lesson
It’s easy enough to dismiss this simple story as being just humorous, but there is a lesson to be learned here. The woman’s dentures would never have been taken if they had been in her mouth where they belonged. She removed them, as many denture wearers remove them, in order to relax.
Traditional dentures have such a poor fit that it is necessary for people to remove them to relax and enjoy themselves. Either the dentures are so uncomfortable that people remove them to reduce discomfort, or the dentures force the mouth into an unnatural and stressing position that people remove them to relax.
The Denture Fountain of Youth® is designed to be so comfortable that you can actually enjoy a cup of coffee while wearing them. They are designed to harmonize with the muscles and bone in your mouth so that you aren’t constantly straining when you wear them.
